In 2025, Massachusetts is investing in youth through several grant programs and budget allocations:
YouthBuild Coalition Program: Allocated $3 million in the FY2025 state budget (line item 7061-9626), this program funds education, job training, and skills development for youth aged 16–24, especially in construction and affordable housing. Funds are available through June 30, 2025, with applications managed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Attorney General’s Healthy Summer Youth Jobs (HSYJ) Grant: In 2025, $377,192.31 was awarded to 35 organizations for youth summer jobs focusing on public health, nutrition, mental health, and community projects. Over 1,000 youth jobs have been funded in more than 85 communities since the program’s inception.
Other Programs: Grants support at-risk youth (line item 4590-1507), evidence-based development models, and educational opportunities for immigrant youth (Title III grants). The City of Boston is also distributing $1.5 million to local youth initiatives with a deadline of August 26, 2025.
All grants prioritize equitable access, measurable impact, and transparency, requiring applications and performance reporting from participating organizations. These programs reflect a comprehensive commitment to youth empowerment and opportunity statewide.
